Will I need to take the citizenship test?
It depends on your situation and the evidence in your citizenship application. Migrationsverket assesses your case and decides whether you meet the knowledge requirements another way or are offered a test.
If you are preparing to apply
Read Migrationsverket’s current requirements for adults and check which certificates or studies may show your knowledge. Do not assume that every applicant needs to sit a test.
If you have already applied
Wait for Migrationsverket to assess your application and contact you. The agency decides whether your evidence meets the requirements and whether a test is relevant in your case.
If you receive a referral letter
The letter explains the next step. UHR handles test registration, and you need the referral to register. Check UHR for current dates, locations and instructions.
What is tested now?
The first part introduced is the test about Swedish society. UHR says it is in Swedish and on paper. A Swedish-language test is planned for a later stage; check UHR for current information.
