Sweden’s first citizenship test: 80% passed
Results are in for Sweden’s first citizenship test on civic knowledge. The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) says about eight in ten participants passed.
The result at a glance
- 875 people took the test on 15 August 2026.
- About 80% passed.
- The pass mark was set at 28 out of 40 points.
What does the result mean?
The first test was held as a pilot. UHR says it met the quality standards required for use as the first test on Swedish society. The University of Gothenburg proposed the pass mark after analysing the test, and UHR approved it.
How participants receive their result
Participants can sign in to their UHR registration account to see their result. UHR also sends results automatically to the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket), so participants do not need to submit them. If someone does not pass, they may have another opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge; contact Migrationsverket for guidance on an individual case.
When is the next citizenship test?
UHR plans the next civic knowledge test for April–May 2027. UHR will publish the date and registration information. Check its official updates for current details.
